Over booked and ended up in a dungeon

I feel as though we may have booked during a very busy time but that still doesn’t mean that our booking shouldn’t have been upheld. Me and my boyfriend arrived at 7pm to be told our room was still being cleaned, we were then told that we had been upgraded in terms of our room which rang alarm bells because we had booked an executive double room. We had been given a twin room facing the canal. We then spoke to the receptionist who then showed us a room that was not within the hotel saying this is a spare room that they have free. At the time after a long day of travelling it almost felt like it was either we took the room or there was nothing else. It was really disappointing and my and my boyfriend spent the 2 nights we were there basically in the dark in our room as it was on the ground floor and were afraid that people could see in so kept the curtains closed. As well as cobwebs in various places in the room. We never went into the main part of the hotel for the amenities that we initially booked it for.It almost ruined our trip but we made the most of the difficult circumstances.

Great Hotel

Excellent hotel in a great location. Hotel itself - Helpful staff, clean and spacious rooms, easy check in and out processes. Nice hotel bar with many drink options. Self serve hotel convenience shop also available. Location was excellent - Many bars and restaurants on the doorstep, hop on/hop off boats stopping across the canal, walking distance to central station and most attractions

Perfect hotel

Beautiful comfy pillows.Wished i could take them home with me.Room was cosy and the ambience just right.The breakfast was nice and the staff friendly.Clean lovely hotel ..right location near the ice bar...made coming to my bed for the night the icing on the cake.

Great place

Friendly, helpful and skilled staff, great location and very well equipped. My only suggestion is add beans for breakfast. But the as a Brit I’m biased. The public transport in Amsterdam is incredible, and choices are within easy reach. Views are also impressive.

Top notch!

Great location , value and cleanliness , everything you need and more! Short walk to most places , pool table in hotel was decent as well , and irish bar 2mins away if you like a pint of guinness , easily the best place i think i could have picked! Thanks again
